Female Tutors
'My Child's Education' has been set up with the aim of providing a weekend school of a high quality for bright girls, run by female tutors.

What's different about this tutoring service?
1) Single-sex class for girls.2) Good skill-mix amongst the team of tutors. They often include trainee-teachers, graduates and undergraduates.
3) The children are selected for enrolment into the class. This is to ensure a high quality environment with good discipline and concentration levels.
4) The student to tutor ratio is limited to 3-5 per tutor. This is to maintain a good level of individual attention for the student.
A project commissioned by the DfES (Department for Education and Skills) to look at single-sex teaching in comprehensive schools found that:
"Pupils are almost always in favour of single-sex groupings, especially girls."
"Teacher opinion is often divided, but most acknowledge greater levels of participation in lessons, and increased confidence amongst both sexes."
"All-boy sets can be difficult to manage, although teachers often feel that behaviour is better in single-sex groups."
"A lack of staff commitment is the main reason for discontinuing single-sex teaching."
